1. Leonardo da Vinci: This man was no less than a legend. During his initial age of art, he was not popular. Apart from being a master in painting, he was also a great architect, inventor, engineer, scientist, and mathematician. He was a master of mysterious art and his paintings not only reflect the perfection but also teach so many things to new generation artists.

2. Michelangelo Buonarotti: He was using his painting to express his vision. Since he was a master of anatomy, it was easy to for him to use tendons, twisting muscles and straining of the human body in order to express the vision. What is interesting about him is that he considered himself as a sculptor, though he is known for paintings.

3. Giovanni Bellini: He was one of the first artists who used oil to do his painting. He is one who showed the world that oil painting can also be used to show the expression. He was the pioneer of technique in which the colors were built up in thin and translucent layers and his paintings demonstrated silence and peace. At the time, his paintings were used to be color-rich, glowing and glossy compared to others.

4. Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio: He was one of those artists who were responsible for bringing the Biblical scenes to life, simply by casting them with the normal human being. He was known for scandals and was exiled for brawling and violence. Still, he never quit painting and became one of the most talented art creators of his time.

5. Artemisia Gentileschi: She was one of the first female artists considered a great example of boundary-breaking talent. At the time, female artists were just painting stills or portraits and never tried to paint nudes. That is where Artemisia started to work and she painted full-frontal nude. Unfortunately, after two years, she was brutally raped by a painter who did not want her to paint nudes. However, instead of demoralizing, this incident fueled her artistic interest and made her one of the most popular artists of this world.
